We got the funding!

Updated: Jul 20

Funding from the Coronavirus Community Support Fund, distributed by The National Lottery Community Fund, has awarded funding, for us to begin our Community Care Box ''Smile Pack'' program for the next 6 months. Thanks to the Government for making this possible.

The ‘Smile Packs’ will contain everything needed in order to complete an activity in the home environment without spending money on resources or having to go out to purchase items. This includes puzzle books, wool patterns, grow pots for flowers, TV magazines and games and quizzes. It will also include information on wider community resources delivered by other services. We will also provide cakes made by local volunteers, following strict guidance around allergies and food hygiene.

Those who are eligible for the ‘Smile Packs’, have been selected at random with the information you supplied, when you registered for a food bank delivery. Those selected will receive a phone call or a visit from us, using strict social distancing, within the next few weeks. We shall explain to you how it works and what to expect over the next few months.

The ‘Smile Packs’ are for local, vulnerable citizens who are socially isolated, and whose general well-being is being impacted further due to Covid 19 and social distancing.

We would like to thank, St Wilfrid’s Community Centre, Hodge Hill Community Venture, Dedicated Volunteers, The Active Wellbeing Society and with special thanks to Cllrs Diane Donaldson & Majid Mahmood, PAK Supermarket, PAK Foods, and Galaxy and Sutton Cars, Centrex Cars and Wates Group. That have supported us whilst the Coronavirus Community Support Funding was being processed and approved.

We would like to take this opportunity, to thank you for all your messages, and kind words you have emailed, posted on social media, and especially said to the volunteers that deliver to you over the last 6 weeks.
